We are seeking counselors-in-training’s participation in a quantitative study exploring empathy, interpersonal reactivity, anti-racist attitudes, and critical consciousness.  The project is titled “Empathy Development as a Predictor of Critical Consciousness Development."   Specifically, we are focusing our research on counseling students enrolled in CACREP and non CACREP accredited programs who identify as counseling (Rehabilitation, Marriage and Family Counseling, College, School, Clinical Mental Health, Addictions, and Career) students.  Through the provision of assessments within an online platform, student participants will complete assessments on empathy, interpersonal reactivity, anti-bias attitudes, and critical consciousness.

The purpose of this is to understand the influences on anti-bias and critical consciousness in counseling students. This research has been approved by the IRB at George Washington University. Notice of IRB approval is available upon request. A detailed informed consent is provided at the beginning of the online survey.

It is estimated that assessments will take between 20-30 minutes. For students, if you would like to participate, please click on the link provided; by doing so you will be taken to an online platform and provided the informed consent and assessments electronically.  You are encouraged to share the research recruitment with your colleagues and peers. Thank you in advance for your consideration and participation.
