Thank you for your consideration in participating in this study entitled, “Certainty, Satisfaction and Confidence Level about Career Choice: Measuring Career Readiness for Masters Level Education Students” The purpose of this study is to measure graduate education major students’ career readiness into their chosen program of study as it relates to their certainty, satisfaction, and confidence levels. The second goal is to examine their optimism level in relation to the Career State Inventory (CSI) components (certainty, satisfaction and confidence levels). Research participants for this study are being recruited from the accepted education graduate program admission at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). You only need to be accepted into one of the master's program (You can still participate if you have not chosen to attend NCCU for your graduate school) . You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this research study. It is important that you understand this information so that you can make an informed choice about whether you want to participate in this research. Modification of this study has been extended to first, second, third and graduating graduate students in school of education. IRB approval number is 1201348.
This study will assist graduate level students and career practitioners in assisting with career decision post undergraduate work. Participates who will participate in this study will be given an opportunity to win three raffles of $50.00 raffle. In addition to the benefits of this research, instructors of introductory education master’s courses can provide extra credit for their students (This will be a decision your instructor will have to decide).
If you decide to participate in this valuable research, you must read the consent form, complete the demographic form, CSI, and the Life Orientated Test Revised (LOT-R). Upon completion of the questionnaire the persons who want to be placed in one of the raffles can email the principal investigator at careerreadinessresearch at gmail dot com to provide their name, contact number, and email addresses.
Also, if you attend NCCU and your professor have agreed to add this survey as an "Extra Credit" include in subject "Extra Credit" , your name, your instructor's/professor's name, your course, contact number and email addresses. I will email your professor. This email address has been created only for this study. This will not be linked to their completed survey. Only the principal investigator will have access to this email address and password to the Qualtrics. Participants will not be identified in any report or publication.
