Within the Poole College of Management Graduate Career Center, interns work directly with professional staff to deliver career coaching services to students within our full-time and working professional MBA programs, as well as students within our 1-year master’s cohort. Additionally, interns may be included in projects that require interaction with corporate recruiters, campus partners, and alumni informing them of practices, policies, and procedures associated with the office. Interns must be personable, have the ability to guide students through highly individualized job search processes, and possess a demonstrated ability to learn quickly.

This is an ideal position for students interested in pursuing careers in college counseling, career services, student advising, and/or program administration in higher education. Interns will be provided with in-depth on-the-job training to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to assume full time positions in career services, student advising, and program administration upon graduation.

This position will be a paid internship, with an expectation of approximately 15-30 hours a week (negotiable).

Responsibilities:

  • Co-facilitate/facilitate career coaching sessions and mock interviews with graduate-level business students Perform resume and cover letter reviews, and support individuals in industry/company research
  • Inform students and alumni of resources available through the CMC, directing them to appropriate online career management and job search resources
  • Assist professional staff in program planning and delivering classroom/workshop presentations (e.g. LinkedIn, professional branding, job search and networking best practices)
  • Provide ongoing professional development to Jenkins MBA Peer Coaches
  • Maintain confidentiality of all clients assisted by the CMC
  • Additional duties as assigned during regularly scheduled hours

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of post-undergraduate work experience is highly preferred.
  • Available 15-30 hours per week during business hours M-F (9:00 – 5:00pm); some projects may allow for virtual work if appropriate
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong time management is a must
  • Knowledge of counseling/coaching best practices that support the professional development of business students Ability to learn quickly and share relevant information with a diverse range of constituencies
  • Maturity and the ability to earn the trust and respect of those with more experience
  • Preference for candidates who can work a full academic year (two semesters)
