Highlights from the North Carolina Counseling Association Annual Conference - February 19-21, 2026

Congratulations to Dr. Kelsey Hargrove, who was presented with the Jane E. Myers Wellness Counseling Award.

The award honors the memory of Dr. Myers, former Counselor Educator at UNCG and Executive Director of Chi Sigma Iota, by recognizing an NCCA member who has encouraged clients to increase their holistic wellness through counseling practice and/or research that incorporates an evidence-based wellness model. 

Congratulations to Dr. Helen Lupton-Smith, who was presented with the Devoted Service Award.

The Devoted Service Award recognizes a member who has provided leadership and service to NCCA and to the counseling field well beyond the typical involvement in voluntary leadership positions in a professional organization.

Trent Stamer, Clinical Mental Health Counseling student, and Dr. Bredell Moody presented a poster sessionArtificial Intelligence in Counseling: Insights on Ethics, Effectiveness, and Practical Use for Clinicians.

CON 5371: Pre-Practicum Counseling Skills

For those students taking CON 5371 in the spring, you will have a required residency either March 24-25 or March 26-27. Specific dates are found below.

CON 5351: Group Counseling

For those students taking CON 5351 in the spring semester, you will have a required residency on April 15-16.
