Highlights from the North Carolina Counseling Association Annual Conference - February 19-21, 2026
Congratulations to Dr. Kelsey Hargrove, who was presented with the Jane E. Myers Wellness Counseling Award.
The award honors the memory of Dr. Myers, former Counselor Educator at UNCG and Executive Director of Chi Sigma Iota, by recognizing an NCCA member who has encouraged clients to increase their holistic wellness through counseling practice and/or research that incorporates an evidence-based wellness model.
Congratulations to Dr. Helen Lupton-Smith, who was presented with the Devoted Service Award.
The Devoted Service Award recognizes a member who has provided leadership and service to NCCA and to the counseling field well beyond the typical involvement in voluntary leadership positions in a professional organization.
Trent Stamer, Clinical Mental Health Counseling student, and Dr. Bredell Moody presented a poster session - Artificial Intelligence in Counseling: Insights on Ethics, Effectiveness, and Practical Use for Clinicians.

- Last day to submit Field Site Survey Form for new site approval: Monday, March 30, 2026
- MOA’s for the Summer 2026 semester must be submitted by: Friday, April 10, 2026
Fall 2026
- Last day to submit the Field Site Survey Form for new site approval: Monday, June 29, 2026
- MOA’s for the Fall 2026 semester must be submitted by: Friday, July 10, 2026
Special Request Dates
If you are planning to utilize your place of employment, you will need to submit a special request proposal as mentioned in the Field Service Manual on page 8.
Summer 2026:
- Special request deadline due by: Monday, March 9, 2026
- Students will be notified by: Monday, March 16, 2026
Fall 2026:
- Special request deadline due by: Monday, June 8, 2026
- Students will be notified by: Monday, June 15, 2026
Residencies - Spring Semester, 2026
CON 5371: Pre-Practicum Counseling Skills
For those students taking CON 5371 in the spring, you will have a required residency either March 24-25 or March 26-27. Specific dates are found below.
- Section 01 and OL2: March 24-25
- Sections OL1: March 26-27
CON 5351: Group Counseling
For those students taking CON 5351 in the spring semester, you will have a required residency on April 15-16.
