Doctoral Program in Counselor Education and Supervision

The University of Wyoming is currently accepting applications for the CACREP accredited Ph.D. program in Counselor Education and Supervision for fall 2015 admission. The program admits a limited number of highly qualified applicants each year. Deadline for application is December 15, 2014.

Our mission is to prepare persons for professional positions as faculty in Counselor Education programs through personalized, developmentally oriented coursework emphasizing the integration of theory and experiential learning. The Counselor Education program at the University of Wyoming has held CACREP accreditation for over 30 years.

Our program is designed for persons who enjoy small class environments, intensive class discussion, and opportunities for self-direction and scholarly activity.  Faculty members focus on encouraging and supporting students’ self-examination and growth, while developing state of the art, research-based counseling competencies. Our newly renovated, in-house Counseling Clinic includes play therapy as well as individual and group/family rooms with totally digitized recording equipment. We prepare our students to serve the university, the community, and K-12 students. Our students benefit from a close partnership with an on-site K-9 Lab School and a wide variety of services including the Rocky Mountain Center of Play Therapy and the provision of substance abuse evaluations.

Prospective students who apply for the doctoral program are eligible to receive monetary support for visiting the University of Wyoming and our program faculty in Laramie.  Applicants may also apply for Graduate Assistantships.
