COUNSELOR EDUCATION PROGRAM -- North Carolina Central University

Please consider supporting a graduate of our program in the completion of her doctoral dissertation.

I am Jakara Scurry, a doctoral candidate in the Counseling and Counselor Education program at North Carolina State University. This email is being sent to request participation for a research study. I am conducting a qualitative study exploring counseling students’ perceptions of the ASERVIC Spiritual and Religious Best Practices (formerly named the ASERVIC Competencies for Addressing Spiritual and Religious Issues in Counseling) within their counseling programs and how these Best Practices are included within the curriculum of counselor education programs. Findings from this study can provide information that could be useful for counselor educators to improve spirituality and religion training for counseling students, which may help increase counseling students’ competency in spirituality and religion, and enhance their ability to provide culturally responsive counseling services. The Human Subjects Research Board at NC State University has approved this research study under protocol number (eIRB# 28848). Participation in this study is entirely voluntary and participants may withdraw consent and terminate participation at any time. The information below details the criteria for participation and the procedures of the study. Please share this research request with counseling students within your institution, and/or if you meet the criteria please consider participating in the study. I have also attached a flyer to this email that also details the research process that may be shared with students.
