Dear Potential Participant,
As a doctoral candidate in the School of Behavioral Sciences at Liberty University, I am conducting research as part of the requirements for a doctoral degree to better understand a phenomenon. The purpose of my research is to explore the mental health of middle and upper income single Black mothers with children under the age of 21 and their coping strategies. I am writing to invite you to join my study.
Participants must be between the ages of 25 to 60. Black females who fit the category of a single middle and or upper-class mother with a child or children under the age of 21 will be chosen. Given that ‘single’ may not look the same for all, for participants inclusion criteria will include the following: (a) never married, (b) divorced, or (c) widowed. Education attainment will range from high school diploma and higher. Employment status of part-time, full-time or other. Income ranges 56,000 and above. Participants will be asked to participate in a one-on-one Microsoft Teams interview. It should take approximately one-hour to one and a half hours. Participants will also be asked to take part in transcript review, having one week to confirm transcript accuracy. This will take approximately 30 – 40 minutes to complete. Names and other identifying information will be requested as part of this study, but participant identities will not be disclosed.
To participate, please contact me at 919-225-7113 / This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you meet my participant criteria, I will work with you to schedule a time for an interview. A consent document will be emailed to you if you meet the study criteria one week before the interview. The consent document contains additional information about my research. If you choose to participate, you will need to sign the consent document and return it to me before study procedures begin.
After the interview is completed, participants will receive a $20 Amazon gift card.
Sincerely,
Queen Pryor
Doctoral Candidate
