Hello counseling students enrolled in CACREP-accredited counseling programs!
My name is Anne Morring, and I am a doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Northern Illinois University (NIU). Under the guidance of my dissertation co-chairs, Dr. Suzanne Degges-White and Dr. Injung Lee, I am conducting a qualitative dissertation study that will explore the experience of reading vignettes drawn from published dramatic plays focused on characters and situations relevant to agender, aromantic, and asexual individuals. This study has been approved by the Northern Illinois University Institutional Review Board (IRB # HS26-0317). This email is an invitation for your participation in my research.
To participate in this study, you must be:
At least 18 years old
Currently enrolled in a CACREP-accredited counseling program at either the master’s or doctoral level within the United States.
Participation Details:
If you agree to participate in my survey, you will be asked 3 initial questions about knowledge related to the LGBTGEQIAP+ community. Then you will read 4 dramatic vignettes and answer 4 questions following each vignette related to your thoughts and reactions to the vignettes. The survey wraps up with 7 questions related to your overall experience of participating in and completing the survey and 6 demographic questions. The estimated time to complete the survey is between 30-45 minutes. There are no additional requirements for this study; responding to the survey is the entirety of the research gathering.
All responses will be collected and stored through Qualtrics. Data will be stored electronically behind password protection that only authorized individuals may access. Participant responses will be used for this dissertation and could be used in future conference presentations and/or publications. Your survey responses will be confidential. No identifying information will be collected, and participants may withdraw from participating at any time. Risks to participants are low, but participants could experience some discomfort over reading viewpoints or experiences different from or similar to their own; participants with questions or concerns can reach out either to me personally via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
