The NC Department of Public Instruction will hold a community forum titled "Multi-Tier System Support: Classroom Management" on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, starting at 9:00 am in the School of Education Auditorium. Students are welcome to attend.

Title: The Duality of Mothering and Career Satisfaction
Presenters: Regina Gavin Williams, Ph.D., LCMHC, Alyx Beckwith, Ph.D., LCMHCS
Description:
Attendees will begin by generally exploring how the world of work is viewed as an important factor of one’s identity. The presenters will then share research regarding the multiple barriers experienced by mothers balancing their work and parenting roles, with specific attention on mothers working within helping professions. Attendees will be engaged in a discussion regarding their own personal and professional experiences of the barriers working mothers face, as well as discuss the concept of what they feel it means to achieve career satisfaction. Strategies counselors, supervisors, and counselor educators can use in their work to support mothers’ career satisfaction will be shared.

Safe Zone Virtual Training
Description:
Safe Zone - Language surrounding the LGBTQ+ community consistently changes. This training begins with an introduction to the usage of pronouns, common terminology, and ways to be an effective ally to members of the LGBTQ+ community.
In October 2015, the Counseling Program at NCCU was selected as the "Most Outstanding Master's level Counseling Program" by the Southern Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.
