Dr. Gwen Newsome

The Counselor Education Program at North Carolina Central University is sad to report that Dr. Gwendolyn Newsome, a retired nccuCounseling faculty member, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

Dr. Newsome was a beloved faculty member with the Program from 2004 until 2018.  During her time at NCCU, she regularly taught CON 5200/5201 (Professional and Ethical Orientation to Counseling), CON 5371 (Pre-practicum), and CON 5380/5381 (Introduction to Clinical Mental Health Counseling).  Dr. Newsome served as the faculty advisor and co-advisor for Nu Chi Chi, NCCU's chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, Counseling Honor Society.
