UPDATED November 2017
Prior to beginning your placement, you must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage as a student counselor. You will not be allowed on-site (or take Practicum or Internship) until you have purchased liability insurance.
All students must purchase liability insurance through the University. Below are the steps that need to be completed to obtain insurance coverage:
- Pay your insurance fee ($15) to the University.
- Students can go to the Bursar's office (Basement of Hoey Administration Building: Hours are 8:30am-4pm Mon-Fri), or...
- Call the Bursar's office to pay over the phone -- 919-530-6209 or 919-530-6014. The cashier will take your credit card information verbally and give you a confirmation number.
In both instances, please identify yourself to the cashier as a "Couselor Education Program Student" and that you are attempting to pay the "insurance fee", "liability insurance fee", or "Counselor Education insurance fee". Remind them that the fee is $15.
Late payments for insurance policies are not accepted. The deadline for all paperwork completion will be provided to you during your Mid-program Review.
